Matsepes Leap Beyond the Obvious

The well-known and long established group of Free State attorneys, Israel Sackstein Matsepe, has decided to change both its name and image. At an exclusive VIP cocktail launch last night (on Thursday 19th July 2007), it was announced that the company will in future be know as ‘Matsepes’.
Having evolved from innovative mergers between highly-regarded law practicing companies in the Free State dating back to the Second World War, the practice – also with offices in Welkom, Odendaalsrus as well as in the Gauteng Province – has established itself as one of the Free State’s and South Africa’s most respected group of attorneys.
The name change is explained by Managing Partner Barry Cloete as follows:
“It is time to move on. We inherited a proud legacy in which the names of founders and senior partners were always reflected in the company’s name. However, following the modern tradition of shortening names and facilitating communication, we decided to name the practice Matsepes”.
Driven by its legacy, the practice has always been on the forefront of innovation, meeting the challenges of the future. Now, under its new name and image, the company has taken a major leap towards re-positioning itself. Matsepes has adopted a totally new corporate identity with a strong symbolism, personifying the commitment of all its people to excellence, diversity and purposefulness in leaping towards a winning position on behalf of each of its clients.
The symbol of the new company is a knight. Vincent Matsepe explains: “Through re-positioning ourselves in the marketplace, with the knight as our symbol, we endeavour to leap ahead with one objective – checkmate”.
