After a successful first World Play- and Entrepreneurs Day that was held in the Free State on 30 May 2015, Free State Care in Action (FCIA) would like to make this day an annual highlight on the calendar. For 2016 we have among other partners, St. Michaels School and Z PR onboard.
The purpose of World Play Day justifies such an opportunity – namely creating awareness amongst parents, teachers and children the value of play in the physical and mental development of children. The focus group is children from 6 to 18 years.
We are striving to make the event bigger and better this year, but for this to be a reality, we need the support of Bloemfontein schools.
Other players like Z PR (the organizers of KTV Market Day, Mzansi Magic Market Day and Kids Carnival) will also be involved this year by offering a new element to World Play Day – popular children’s entrepreneurial market and talent competition!
There will be two categories in the entrepreneur’s day: Children between 6 and 18 (thus all primary and high school children) can come and sell their hand-made wares or they can come to participate in a talent competition. In terms of the organized sporting activities, it is not so much a competition, but rather to expose as many children as possible to various sports such as five a side football, mini hockey and monkeynastix. The goal of the day is a great day of fun without any pressure being put on the children. There will also be ample opportunity for informal games. Seen in the light of contemporary performance pressure on children from an early age, part of the annual planning should include a session created for children just to play, and to enjoy their “childhood”.
Free State Care in Action does, therefore, call on schools, when you do your sport planning for 2016, to provide for Saturday 7 May 2016 for World Play Day where kids from Grade R to 9 years (and children between 6 and 18 with the market day) can come and participate.
