Christmas is always a special time for children with joy and laughter. Z PR teamed up with Spec-Savers to bring the Christmas spirit of joy and giving to Sunflower House Hospice for children with incurable diseases. The St Nicholas Children’s Hospice better known as Sunflower House was founded in 1998 in Bloemfontein to meet the increasing need for a special programme for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions including HIV/AIDS; Cancer; genetic conditions that are life-limiting; complications of trauma; severe disabilities; organ failure – such as heart failure, respiratory failure, liver and renal failure as well as malnutrition. The children were spoiled to all kinds of treats. Spec-Savers gave a monetary sponsorship with which we bought all the children new clothing and a small toy. The rest of the funds were used for basic needs such as Vaseline, toiletries and basic food-stuffs.
Spec-Savers also took the opportunity to give each care-giver at Sunflower House a nice pair of infinity sunglasses to thank them for their support and the amazing job they are doing with the children. Z PR would like to thank Spec-Savers for helping us bring Christmas cheer to these children, many of whom have never received a gift before.
