World Play Day at St Michaels School Bloemfontein

International Play Day takes place annually to remind children of the importance of play, not only for physical development but also as a social and leisure activity. Technology has taken over traditional play – and children no longer know how to play!   To raise awareness all participants of International Play day in the Free State got together on the St Michael’s School Sports Fields on Saturday 30 May 2013 in an attempt to break the Guinness World record for the most children playing “I wrote a letter to my love” (in Afrikaans – Vrot Eier) simultaneously.  This exciting awareness campaign was organised by Free State Care in Action and St Michael’s School. Spec-Savers sponsored foam peaks, crayons and water bottles.

There were over a 1000 children in attendance and 300 adults.
