Johannesburg, August 14 – The MultiChoice Group is excited to announce that eSwatini-born professional golfer, Nobuhle Dlamini, is SuperSport’s latest Let’s Play ambassador.

“Nobuhle has an inspiring story to tell,” says Gideon Khobane, Chief Executive Officer of SuperSport. “Encouraged by her late father, a self-taught golfer who started as a caddie and eventually qualified for the European golf teaching diploma, Nobuhle has risen through the ranks due to hard work, determination and perseverance. Her drive to succeed makes her the ideal role model for young, aspirant sports stars – especially young girls.”

Dlamini’s role as ambassador will be to promote the work done through the Let’s Play initiative and encourage primary school learners to embrace physical education as an important way of life. She follows in the footsteps of previous ambassadors such as Jean de Villiers and Graeme Smith.

Nobuhle is a regular on the Sunshine Ladies Tour and is ranked fifth in South Africa. Since turning professional in 2014, her rise in the Tour rankings has been steady and consistent with 2019 being her best year to date as she racked up five wins. MultiChoice will be giving Dlamini marketing and financial assistance when she competes in the Ladies European Tour.

“I want to use the platform that MultiChoice has given me, to share my passion for the sport I love with young school children from all walks of life,” she says. “I want to be a role model for underprivileged kids – they too can be successful – and I want to inspire them to reach for their dreams. I’m thankful for all the support I’ll be getting as it will make it easier to leave my mark on the international ladies’ golf rankings and break the glass ceiling into the pinnacle of world golf.”

The continued success of the Let’s Play Physical Education Challenge has, over the years, seen it become a flagship primary school enrichment programme. It has influenced more than 100 000 primary school learners to adopt physical activity as a lifestyle and has also equipped Life Orientation teachers with the tools to become better Physical Education implementers.

In 2020, MultiChoice, through the SuperSport Let’s Play Learnership, has already seen its investment help 100 previously unemployed youth to secure jobs.

“With Nobuhle as our ambassador, we want to continue showing our commitment to uplifting, supporting and investing in the communities in which we operate in through investing in local talent. We also want to give our sports stars a platform to share their stories and there is no better way than to use Africa’s largest sports broadcaster, SuperSport, to do so,” Khobane concluded.
