WWE superstars to headline unusual WrestleMania 36 – all on SuperSport

Johannesburg, April 2 – WrestleMania 36, to be broadcast this weekend, will be the most unique WWE show that members of the WWE universe have ever seen.

The worldwide Covid-19 pandemic has seen the event moved from a 65 000-seater stadium in Tampa, Florida to the WWE Performance Centre in Orlando where it will be held across two days – without fans.

The kickoff show will be broadcast on DStv (WWE Channel 128, SuperSport 4SA, SS9SA, SS4A, Max 2, Select 5), starting at midnight on Saturday (CAT).

The main show will start at 1am on Sunday (CAT).

The timing (and channels) will be the same for day two’s action, beginning at midnight on Sunday (CAT).

With a lockdown in effect in parts of the US, the WWE has been in a race against the clock to film the biggest show of the year at the company’s Orlando studios.

Only WWE superstars and essential support staff will be in attendance.

At WrestleMania 35 in New Jersey last year, Becky Lynch headlined, defeating Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair to win both women’s championships.

This weekend, she defends the WWE Raw women’s championship against Shayna Baszler.

As ever, there are several tremendous match-ups featuring the biggest names of WWE, among them Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Goldberg, Sasha Banks and The Undertaker who might, if the grapevine is to be believed, be making his final bow in this very unfamiliar setting.
